When You Know You Are In Love

When you know you are in love….

I know I’m in love when I catch myself staring at them and thinking there can’t possibly be something cuter!

I know I’m in love when I hear them share their prayer request and I almost start to cry because I see that they are falling in love with Christ.

I know I’m in love when I look at the child I couldn’t stand at the beginning of the year and see a child I couldn’t have imagined not knowing!

I know I’m in love when I see one of them falling down and find myself in a panic running to make sure they are okay.

Some of my girls!

Some of my girls!

I know I’m in love when I have to say no to their tears and their pleas because I want to hold them accountable but still it hurts me.

One of my oh so handsome students! (Got to love his milk mustache!)

I know I’m in love when I see another kid trying to pick on one of my students and I find myself wanting to defend my student.

I know I’m in love when I talk to their parents and want to weep with them over their child’s struggles.

I know I’m in love when I don’t want to take a sick day because I will miss them too much.

I know I’m in love when I catch a spider for them even though I’m terrified of spiders.

I know I’m in love when I do all I can to keep a spider alive for them, like catching bugs.

I know I’m in love when I give up my breaks because they need some one on one time.

I know I’m in love when I can tell you specific details about them like their favorite color, their favorite super hero, or their favorite princess.

I know I’m in love when I make silly jokes that only they find is funny…. Like, “I love you snow much!”

I know I’m in love when I go home and can’t stop talking about them or laughing at what they said.

I know I’m in love when I check their heads for lice.

I know I’m in love when I rub their back when they are throwing up because I know that they are scared.

I know I’m in love when I talk like a robot just so I can have some fun with them.

I know I’m in love when I find myself constantly praying for them.

I know I’m in love when I want to cry with them and do cry for them.

Only God could make me fall in love with fourteen wiggly, silly kiddos.
