December is usually know for Christmas, parties, and snow, but in Peru it is actually almost summer and the school year finally ends. To celebrate the holidays, we had a Christmas party at Elim, which is know as a chocolatada. We had a medical campaign in the morning for everyone, which included a physical and dental check-up. Then the moms from Elim donated extra money to make a lunch for every child! This really surprised us, because we thought they would only like to make food for their children, but instead they gave extra money so that we could make food for the children that do not have their moms attending the program, what a demonstration of spiritual growth! After lunch we played a few games and sang songs. We had a puppet show to talk about the meaning of Christmas, the birth of the Messiah. And later we gave the moms food baskets and the children chocolate milk and fruitcake along with some clothing and a gift.
My visa expired this month, but since I’m married to a Peruvian, it is an easier process to get a visa, so I have gone to Lima a few times to start that process again. I have seen the Lord’s hand in this process as He has done many miracles while I was there, praise the Lord!
Christmas, my 27th birthday, and New Years were all special events for Stephany and I now that we are married! For me it is so special to be with her and spend time with her during all these occasions. We thank God for everything He has provided for us and how He is teaching and leading us every step of the way.
Recently, we just finished two retreats. One specifically for Elim, which we talked about the vision, mission, objectives, strategies, and the 2015 plan. It was a lot of work with many different ideas and views, but with the Holy Spirit guiding us, and we finished the retreat with renewed vision for Elim with the steps of how to get there. Then we had a retreat with Inca Link Peru, where each project shared similar information. It is great to be part of a team in which we can help each other reach these goals! We have a lot more to do and we will keep you up to date with what advances are taking place.
