Pray for the Ninawachi Mission School

During our October Open House 9 Youth and Young adults answered the call to study at Ninawachi.

In mid-October a short-term team came to Huaticocha from Mark and Cheryl Shafer’s home church, Fox Island Alliance Church in Washington State. During their stay we partnered with the Baptist Church in 10 de Agosto, a neighboring community 5 miles from Huaticocha, to share the gospel of Christ. We saw a lot people come to know Christ, including a family who had suffered the loss of a son a few months earlier.

Before the Fox Island group came, we had decided to take advantage of their visit to host and open house for interested students and for pastors so that we could present the Ninawachi Mission School ministry.

On October 16 we held the open house. The Fox Island team helped serve dinner to the visitors, who numbered about 85. Afterward we held the first church service at Ninawachi. During the service Alvaro Valladares, one of our team members who is from Nicaragua, challenged the youth and young adults present to dedicate their lives to carrying the good news of Jesus to those who live in remote communities where Christ is not known.

Nine youth answered the call afterward. They represented four different ethnic groups in Ecuador—indigenous Quichua, Kichwa, Achuar, and Shuar. Afterward, we all prayed for these future students.

Since October we have been promoting the mission school and other youth have expressed interest. We still have to get the word out about Ninawachi, but God is opening doors and putting key people in our paths to help spread the word about the opportunity to study at Inca Link’s Ninawachi Mission School.

We plan to start in a little less than 2 months on January 13. Pray that God continues to provide students so that we can fill all of the 24 available openings. Pray that God opens doors for us to carry the news about the mission school to areas where he has students that he wants to equip through studying at Ninawachi. Pray also that God provides the financial resources to be able to finish the mission school, equip the school with the necessary study materials, and to purchase a 4 acre adjacent property that we would like to obtain to use for farming. The mission school is finished enough to be operational, but due to the main school building costing more to build than what we had planned, we still need funding to finish construction.

As we celebrate Thanksgiving next week, I am thankful for the prayers and support of each one of you. Without you, I wouldn’t be able to be here serving in Ecuador. Thank you for partnering with us in this ministry. It is through your prayers, financial support, and support by coming on short term missions trips that God has worked so that the Ninawachi Mission School is about to open to equip more messengers of the Good News.
