Cumbre Alta Player Internship FAQs

  • If you are currently in college, you can practice alongside our players, build relationships, and take advantage of high-altitude training to be ready for preseason. Quito is at 9,350ft in elevation.
  • If you are eligible, you could play in our league with us! Fill out the form above for more information about this unique opportunity!
  • A typical week may include 3-4 team practices, 1 game or a team event, and plenty of time to connect with teammates over coffee, lunch, or explore the city. You can volunteer at our youth academy or another ministry project that interests you. There’s even flexibility for those who work remote and want to take advantage of working and living in a foreign country, play soccer, and impact others.

It costs a minimum of $1,090 per month. This opportunity involves raising personal support. The cost includes in-country ground transportation, housing, meals, activities & ministry funds, and travel insurance. Airfare is not included.

Training and equipping will be provided to assist in this process.

  • Cumbre Alta Men’s program has both an amateur and official professional soccer team.
  • Cumbre Alta Women’s team competes at the highest amateur level. We are one step away from promotion to professional women’s soccer.
  • Cumbre Alta’s Youth Academy features over 100 players from 4-18 years old. The youth academy teams are divided by age groups and mainly play at the recreational level.

The season schedule for each team/league varies every year, but our program essentially runs year-round. The summer is a great time, but we are flexible. Contact Coach Chelsey at cbrunt@incalink.org for more specific information about what would be a good timeline.

In Quito, Ecuador! Specific housing will be solidified and discussed with you prior to your departure date. Housing is included in the monthly cost of the program. Depending on your dates and length of stay, housing may look like living at our ministry guest house, with a local host family or missionary host family, or an apartment rental.

Depending on the exact housing situation, you will most likely be grocery shopping and cooking for yourself. It is up to you how much you want to experience the local cuisine. Ecuadorian food is amazing. Typical dishes include meats and fish/seafood, lots of fresh fruits and vegetables and starches like rice, potatoes, corn, and grains.

No problem! Soccer is a universal language! Of course, we encourage you to prepare by taking classes, but you do not have to be at a certain level to come down. We just ask that you embrace the language while you are here and do your best to build relationships with your gifts and abilities. You can take classes before and/or during the experience. Cost of Spanish classes is not included in the monthly cost. However, your monthly support total can be adjusted if you would like to include Spanish language training.

That Depends. This is determined based on the length of stay. Once your timeline is decided, we can discuss the visa options and what that process would look like if applying for a visa is necessary.

  • The process consists of an application, 3 references (one being a coach), at least one interview, and a background check.
